VMI WRESTLER, COACH HONORED
Charlie Branch of VMI was named outstanding wrestler for his efforts in winning the 142-pound class of the Virginia State Wrestling Tournament at Memorial Gym on Sunday. VMI's John Trudgeon was named coach of the year.Branch defeated defending champion Jody Jackson of Virginia 6-4 for the title. Brian Mason of the Keydets won the 134-pound class helped VMI take second with 66.5 points, trailing winner George Mason with 78. Virginia Tech took third, as Matt Burlingame (150) and Dante Winslow (158) won championship matches. William and Mary's Brent Coldiron won the 177-pound class. - Staff report
