OBIT DUNCAN, CHARLIE BYRD SR.
DUNCAN, Charlie Byrd Sr., 84, of 225 Dunbar St., Dublin, died Sunday,
January 17, 1993, in Radford Community Hospital. He was born in Pulaski County
May 24, 1908, and was the son of the late Byrd Duncan and Kitty Swacker
Duncan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Hurst Duncan. Mr. Duncan
was a charter member of the Dublin Fire Department for 52 years, a charter
member of the Pulaski County Lifesaving Crew, a lifelong member of the Dublin
United Methodist Church, a past member of the Dublin Town Council, and served
as vice mayor of Dublin. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Jean)
Thompson, Dublin; one son, Charlie B. Duncan Jr., Newburn; one sister, Mrs.
Fred (Alma) Boyd, Hickory, N.C.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Dublin United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow in
Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department. Visiting will be Monday
evening from 7 until 9 at Dublin United Methodist Church. Arrangements by
Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski.
