OBIT FERGUSON, WILLIAM ARTHUR, ("BILL")
FERGUSON, William Arthur, ("Bill"), 88 of Rich Creek, Va., died Sunday
morning, January 17, 1993, in the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg,
Virginia. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born in February 14,
1904, and was the son of the late William Elbert and Lora Jane Ganoe Ferguson.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rich Creek and was a retired
small engine repair specialist. He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Maude Allen Ferguson, a sister, Minnie Ferguson and four brothers, Oscar W.
(Sandy) Ferguson, Pfc. Arnold G. Ferguson, who was killed in World War II,
Clarence Ferguson and Charlie P. Ferguson. Surviving are his wife, Madge Jones
Ferguson; one son, Richard D. Ferguson, Zanesville, Ohio; a stepson, Russell
Jones, Gap Mills, W.Va.; five daughters, Hazel Overstreet, Chesapeake, Va.,
Louise Jones, Galion, Ohio, Helen Quesenberry and Jean Farmer, both of
Blacksburg, Va., Teddy Black, Naples, Florida; one stepdaughter, Shelvie Jones
Snow, Ft. Washington, Md.; one brother, Harry L. Ferguson, Rich Creek, Va.;
six sisters, Martha Hobbs, Lora Mullins, Myrtle Havens, all of Narrows, Va.,
Vivian Griggs, Peterstown, W.Va., Mary Nichols, Washington, D. C.; 17
grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 at the First Baptist Church in
Rich Creek, Va. with the Rev. Allen Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in
the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, Va. The family will meet their
friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, Monday evening from 5 until 7.
