SISTER TOWN DUMFRIES HONORS STATE-CHAMP COUGARS
Even the town of Dumfries in Northern Virginia has joined in honoring the Pulaski Cougars for winning the state championship - no surprise, perhaps, since Dumfries has been associated with the town of Pulaski since 1991.Dumfries, a town of 4,300 people in Prince William County, and Pulaski were paired by the Virginia Municipal League in its Virginians to Virginians Program. Officials from each town visit the other periodically and exchange ideas on ways to improve local government.
In a resolution passed by Dumfries Town Council, the town and its officials and citizens expressed "their admiration and respect for the accomplishments of the 1992 Pulaski County High School Cougars."
Dumfries Mayor Samuel Bauckman also proclaimed Coach Joel Hicks, the Cougars' coaching staff, the team, its cheerleaders and the faculty and students at Pulaski County High School as honorary citizens of Dumfries for the month of January.
