BROTHERS, AGES 9 AND 13, SUSPECTED IN BREAK-INS

Two brothers ages 9 and 13 are suspected in a string of break-ins in the Midway community near West Virginia, Giles County authorities say.

The community, on U.S. 219, has experienced a "rash of break-ins" in the last week, Investigator Willie Lucas of the Giles County Sheriff's Office said.

Residential garages and offices were the targets, Lucas said, but the nearby homes were not entered. An undetermined number of items, which officers would not identify, were taken, he said.

Lucas said juvenile petitions will be filed charging the brothers with breaking and entering, misdemeanor and felony destruction of property, grand larceny and petty larceny. The boys were released to their parents.

The brothers became suspects after they were caught trying to enter a property that had been hit twice before, Lucas said.
