PULASKI NAMES ACTING TOWN MANAGER

Pulaski Town Council voted Tuesday night to make Rob Lyons acting town manager this week.

Lyons has been assistant to the town manager since mid-1990. He will assume the acting manager's duties when Don Holycross, the man who hired him, leaves to become the new manager at Atlantic Beach, N.C.

Council unanimously approved a motion by J.R. Schrader to name Lyons as acting manager until a new town manager is hired. Lyons is not among the 142 applicants to succeed Holycross.

Before coming to Pulaski, Lyons had a one-year internship with the West Palm Beach, Fla., city manager's office.

Before that, he completed an executive internship with the fire and rescue departments in Montgomery County, Md., and a graduate school internship with the U.S. Department of Labor.

He graduated in 1987 from Old Dominion University with a criminal justice degree, and earned a master's in public administration in 1989 from American University in Washington, D.C.
