AYERS, Carrie Rodgers, 81, of Roanoke, passed away January 19, 1993 in a
local hospital. She was a retired employee of Roanoke Mills and a member of
Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. She went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday. She is
survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Carl Ayers; daughter and
son-in-law, Wanda and Earl Bostic, son and daughter-in-law, Wilson ("Bill")
and Helen Ayers, all of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Pat Ayers,
Poway, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Pam Bostic, Joy and Richard
Smith, Karen and Bob Killen, Melanie Bostic, Tim Bostic, Carl and Melissa
Ayers, Dawn and Juan Reyes, Crystal and Kevin Saunders; four
stepgrandchildren, Shelia Robb, Billy Blankenship, Jimmy Blankenship, Pete
Nance; five great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jenny and
Teddy Propst, Covington, Nola Malcomb, Richmond; four sisters-in-law, Lillie
Ayers, Bedford, Virginia Morgan, Winchester, Lou Rodgers, Warm Springs, Gladys
Rodgers, Saluda; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held
at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Aaron Rummage, the
Rev. Albert Massey and the Rev. Orlando Gonzalez officiating. Memorials may be
made to the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends from 1
to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
