KING CONTRIBUTORS WANT MONUMENT OR REFUND

Some contributors to a city monument that would honor slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King have issued an ultimatum to either build the memorial now or return their money.

Joe Rose brought 200 signatures on a petition Tuesday to ask City Council to force organizers to build the memorial with the $143,000 collected.

However, council told Rose it could do nothing because the organizers are a private group.
