STATE BIKE GROUP TO TOUR SOUTHWEST VA. LOCALITIES
Bike Virginia officials have completed plans to visit Southwest Virginia on their sixth annual summer bicycling trip.The 300-mile trip will start June 18 when about 1,500 cyclists and 150 staff people converge on Bristol.
The city of Bristol and towns of Abingdon, Marion, Wytheville, Galax and Floyd have agreed to play host to the bikers during their five days on the road. Accommodations for sleeping and meals will be provided along with evening musical entertainment open to townspeople in each community.
Bike Virginia is an organization set up to provide participants with bicycle tours in a different part of Virginia each summer. Cyclists who want to participate in this year's trip should contact Bike Virginia, P.O. Box 203, Williamsburg, Va., 23187 or call (804) 229-0507. - Southwest bureau
