PR DIRECTOR ELECTED HEAD OF TOURISM GROUP

Kitty W. Grady, public information director for the town of Wytheville, is the new president of Virginia's Southwest Blue Ridge Highlands.

She was elected at the 19-county tourism group's annual meeting in Scott County.

Craig Seaver, supervisor of Natural Tunnel State Park, was elected vice president; Phyllis Deel, from the Dickenson County Extension Office, secretary; and Dusty Ballard, Ballard Insurance in Richlands, treasurer.

The organization presented awards for leadership in tourism development to Lori Ward, public relations director at Barter Theatre in Abingdon; Howard and Joyce Barrett, owners of New River Cruise Co. in Pulaski County; Richard Buck, from the outdoor drama "The Long Way Home" performed near Radford each year; Vic Brungart, Small Business Development Center director; David Browning, from "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" outdoor drama at Big Stone Gap; Greg Poirier, property manager of Doe Run Lodge in Carroll County; and Jim Whiten, past president of the group.
