RELIGION BRIEFS

CHURCH WOMEN UNITED, a Roanoke Valley group to promote ecumenical and interracial understanding, will hear Kaye Hale at its annual meeting Friday at Christ Lutheran Church. Hale is director of West End Center, a ministry to inner-city residents. The center is moving to a renovated Patterson Avenue restaurant.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with registration at the church on Grandin Road at Brandon Avenue Southwest.

\ WOMEN'S AGLOW, a group for women with charismatic Christian preference, will hear Gail Jarvis at the day chapter meeting Wednesday at the Woodmen of the World Building, 2306 Peters Creek Road N.W. Breakfast starts at 9:30. Jarvis is Aglow prayer coordinator for Virginia.

Reservations for the $2 meal and for a nursery may be made by calling 362-2518 or 774-1478.

\ HOW TO HANDLE GRIEF will be the theme of Sue Moore on Wednesday at Huntington Court United Methodist Church, Williamson Road at Huntington Boulevard. Moore, a staff member of Good Samaritan Hospice and an active leader in Roanoke Valley grief support groups, will speak at 6:30 p.m. as part of a Wednesday night program series for adults in the community around the church.

\ JOANI TABOR, Roanoke gospel singer and recording artist, will perform twice in Roanoke churches Sunday. She will be at New Hope Christian Church, 4229 Welcome Valley Road S.W. at 10:50 a.m. and at First Church of God, 5125 Hildebrand Road N.W. at 6 p.m. Both programs are free.

\ "CUTTING THE GOSPEL CAKE," a program by the youth division of St. John Grand Lodge of the Masonic order, will be presented Sunday at 4 p.m. at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1810 Grayson Ave. N.W.
