BOYS' HOME WINS BASKETBALL GAME 93-68

George Wood headed a trio of 20-plus scorers as Covington Boys' Home whipped Union, W.Va., 93-68 on Wednesday night in a non-district boys' basketball game.

Wood led Covington Boys' Home (6-5) with 28 points. Chris Hicks added 23 including three 3-point goals, and Donnie Costigan pitched in 21 points. Union was led by Adaryl Galford with 25 points. \

Roanoke Catholic's fast-breaking offense and pressing defense proved too much for Stuart Hall, and the Celtics recorded a 54-21 victory in Blue Ridge Conference girls' basketball Thursday.

Roanoke Catholic forced 18 steals and scored many of its points off layups. Jackie Hinman's 13 points and Wendy Murdock's 12 led Roanoke Catholic (11-2 overall, 6-1 league). Manda Fortner's 11 points led Stuart Hall (2-7 overall).
