Cellular One, a cellular telephone retailer, has opened an office at 9 W. Kirk Ave. in downtown Roanoke.

Frederick G. Griffin, a Lynchburg communications consultant, has been awarded a contract for one of the nation's first multiuser radio communications systems. The system will be centered at the Raleigh-Durham, N.C., airport and connect to communications for American Airlines, the city of Raleigh, town of Cary, Wake County and North Carolina state agencies.
