HORSE EVENTS COMING UP IN LEXINGTON

A lecture from an internationally known equestrian and trainer and an extensive horse sale highlight activities the last week in January at the Virginia Horse Center outside Lexington.

Trainer Jim Wofford returns to the center Jan. 27 for a third appearance in the Winter Clinic Series. He will cover stadium jumping while taking advantage of the indoor facilities at the Coliseum.

The clinic is limited to three groups of no more than seven riders of similar ability. Lessons begin at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. Call Bonnie Marcum at the horse center at (703) 463-2194 for details.

The 24th annual Eastern Mid-Winter Sale, which is national in scope and limited to 400 quarter horses and paints, will be Jan. 30-31 in the coliseum. Each year, the sale attracts over 4,000 buyers and has average sales of more than $2,000 per horse and 85 percent completed sales.

Call Mike or Tim Jennings at Professional Auction Services in Leesburg at (703) 777-6975 for more information.
