EX-UPS DRIVER GETS 12 YEARS FOR GUN THEFTS
A former United Parcel Service driver was sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison Friday for stealing hundreds of semiautomatic handguns from his truck and selling them to drug dealers and gunrunners in New York City.Bernard G. Fuller, 43, of Alexandria, stole about 850 weapons over a four-year period from Interarms Inc., an Alexandria weapons importer that shipped weapons to dealers across the country daily, prosecutors said.
He was convicted of conspiracy to steal in excess of 500 firearms moving in interstate commerce, distributing cocaine and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. Fuller was arrested in July.
From 1988 to 1922, Fuller repeatedly stole guns from his shipments and took them to New York, where they were sold for about $250 each or traded for cocaine, prosecutors said. - Associated Press
