UNBEATEN NELSON EDGES JEFFERSON FOREST 56-53
Tyrone Revely scored 17 points as unbeaten Nelson County had its hands full before slipping past Jefferson Forest 56-53 in a Seminole District boys' basketball game Friday night.Jefferson Forest (8-5 overall, 8-5 Seminole) came out strong and took a seven-point lead at halftime. Revely scored 11 of his 17 points in the third quarter to rally Nelson County. The Governors took the lead at the end of the quarter with two free throws by Dan Revely.
Bryan Jennings pulled the Cavaliers to 56-53 with 38 seconds left, but Jefferson Forest missed a 3-point shot at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.
Tommy Vaughn scored 15 points and Dan Revely added 12 to pace Nelson County (12-0, 12-0).
Ryan Gilleland led the Cavaliers with 12 points. \

BUCKINGHAM - The Minutemen scored 55 points in the second half in improving their record to 5-7 in the Seminole District and overall.
Liberty placed five scorers in double figures, led by Jerry Padgett with 20. Lewis Jones had 25 for the Knights (2-11, 2-11). Buckingham led 22-19 after the first quarter. \

MAX MEADOWS - Floyd County jumped to a 29-7 first-quarter lead and cruised to the Mountain Empire District victory over the Pioneers.
Jason Light scored 26 points and Mike Hylton added 24 for the Buffaloes (7-2, 7-2). Steve Widner had 18 for the Pioneers (8-3, 6-3). \

PEARISBURG - Timmy Williams had 18 points as the Spartans swamped Rocky Gap in a Mountain Empire District game. Mitch Reed added 14 points for Giles (4-6, 3-6), which led 31-11 at halftime and poured it on in the third quarter. Rocky Gap is 0-11, 0-10. \

BLACKSBURG - A change in defense and a strong rebounding effort in the second half carried the Crusaders past the team from Princeton, W.Va.
Gateway Christian (6-1) got 41 total points from inside players Sam Moore (26) and David Arthur (15), and point guard Brad Ewing added 19. The Crusaders went to a zone defense in the second half. That, combined with hustling play from starters and reserves, helped Gateway Christian overcome a 37-34 halftime deficit. \
