YOUNGER GENERATION LIVING IN FEAR
HOW CAN young people think about their education and future? There may be no future, because we are killing off our own kind with drugs, guns and even sex.AIDS, a disease that's killing half of the human race, is being spread among ourselves.
Then there's rape, which is being committed in our own school systems. I have a couple of college friends - one is afraid to go out to her car after night classes, and the other had a friend who was raped at a college party.
And guns being carried on school campus? That's a scary thought, is it not?
Some of the older people I know say, "School used to be the safest place to be." Now, could it be the deadliest? Maybe not now, but possibly in the future.
How can young people learn when their mind is elsewhere, possibly thinking about a friend who was shot and is now lying in the hospital fighting in a war of life and death? ANDREA DOCKERY ROANOKE
