SHAW-HESS

Michelle D. Hess and Donald H.M. Shaw, III, were married on Tuesday, December 22, 1992, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.

The Rev. Riley Smith, Jr. officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Donald R. Hess of Roanoke, and Gail and Tom Crowe of Hardy. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duffield of Smith Mountain Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford R. Hess of Roanoke.

The bridegroom is the son of Donald H.M. Shaw, Jr., and Vicki Shaw; and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Donald H.M. Shaw, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. BennyFowler, all of Annapolis, Maryland.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. The bride wore a formal gown of white wedding taffeta with fitted bodice, pouf long lace sleeves, full skirt and chapel-length train accented with tree large bows, lace embroidery, pearls and beads. The layered veil of tulle fell over her shoulders and was crowned with pearls and beads. The bride's bouquet was of red and white Poinsettias with Hollyberry, white lace and red streamers.

Maid of honor was Sabrina C. Duffield of Bristol, Tenn., cousin of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jeanette Shelor Turner of Boones Mill, a classmate of the bride. Their dresses were of emerald green, tea length. Their bouquets were red and white Poinsettias.

Best man was Jeff West of Tampa, Florida, friend of the groom. The groomsman was Ian S. Shaw of Annapolis, Maryland, brother of the groom.

Ushers were Tom Crowe, Jr., stepbrother of the bride; and David Hutton, second cousin of the bride.

The wedding was directed by Mrs.Sally Shelor of Boones Mill, who also designed the bouquets. The church was decorated by Lakeside Florist in red and white Poinsettias with red candles.

Keith Tyree provided the music with Amy Shelor as soloist.

The ceremony was followed by a reception at Stephen's Galley at Smith Mountain Lake.

The bride is a 1990 graduate of Franklin County High School and is currently serving in the United States Air Force as a Medical Tech Service Specialist.

The bridegroom is a 1987 graduate of Shenandoah Valley Academy and is currently serving in the United States Navy as a C.B.'s Petty Officer.

The couple will reside in Gulfport, Miss., where both are stationed.
