DUKE OVERTAKES RADFORD IN CLOSING SECONDS 59-58
Dana McDonald sank a 3-pointer and a free throw with three seconds remaining Saturday as Duke slipped past Radford 59-58 in a non-conference basketball game.The Blue Devils took an 11-point lead in the first half, but the Highlanders whittled it down to seven by halftime.
After Duke (9-6) rebuilt its lead to 10, Radford battled back to tie the score at 46 with 5:41 left.
The Highlanders led by six in the last minutes and had a three-point lead when LaSaundra Siddle fouled McDonald as she put up the 3-pointer.
Siddle led Radford (4-8) with 15 points, Shannan Wilkey added 14 and Tammie Crown had 11. \

No. 24 Georgia Tech 81 ATLANTA - Heather Burge had 32 points and 13
rebounds in leading the Cavaliers over the Yellow Jackets in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.
Virginia (12-4 overall, 4-2 ACC) shot 63.6 percent and dominated rebounding 51-27.
Joyce Pierce led Georgia Tech (8-5, 3-4) with 24 points, and Selena Baldwin added 17. It was the fourth consecutive ACC loss for the Yellow Jackets.
Virginia, which got 22 points from freshman Wendy Palmer, broke a 30-30 tie with a 9-0 run and led 51-38 at halftime on three consecutive layups by Palmer.
The Cavs were never in trouble after opening the second half with an 8-0 burst.
Heidi Burge, Heather's twin, had 12 points and 12 rebounds. \

NORFOLK - Martha Sainz scored 31 points to rally the league-leading Marlins to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Hollins.
Virginia Wesleyan (10-4, 8-1), trailing by eight at halftime, went ahead to stay with seven minutes remaining. Sainz scored 26 in the second half.
Hollins (6-7, 2-6) got 18 points from Serena Beedie. \

LYNCHBURG - Dena Blank scored 18 points and Kay Caldwell added 17 as the Maroons rolled over the Hornets for their ninth ODAC victory.
Roanoke came out strong, shooting 53 percent in the first half, and never looked back. The Maroons (12-2, 9-1) led 43-21 at halftime.
Karla Calloway, Kristi Knicely and Beth Olsen had 10 points each for the Hornets (3-8, 2-6). \
