ALLEGHANY NIPS GLENVAR ON WHEATLEY'S SHOT
Mike Hunter scored 22 points and Todd Wheatley added 17 as Alleghany slipped past Glenvar 60-59 in a non-district boys' basketball victory Saturday.The Highlanders led early, but the visiting Mountaineers took control and didn't lose the lead until Glenvar went ahead 57-56 with 33 seconds left.
Hunter then scored on an 8-foot shot to put Alleghany (10-2) up 58-57. Glenvar's Jason Anderson was fouled and converted two free throws to give the Highlanders a one-point lead with 10 seconds left.
Wheatley then sank a baseline jumper for the Mountaineers' game-winner and time ran out on the Highlanders.
Anderson and Brad Melton had 17 points each to pace Glenvar (8-4). Jason Woolwine added 15 points. \

MARTINSVILLE - The Eagles shot 72 percent from the floor (18-for-25) in the second half as they pulled away from the Chiefs in a Virginia Independent Conference game.
Every player scored for Roanoke Valley Christian (4-6, 3-4), with Brad Suhr's 10 points leading the way. Phillip Wegner had 11 rebounds and Nathan Hicks dished out seven assists.
Andrew Tunnell had 19 points for Carlisle (0-8, 1-14). \

WAYNESBORO - Kortaa Hall scored 34 points, including eight 3-pointers, as Fishburne Military defeated the Cavaliers in a non-conference game.
Hall, a sophomore guard, scored four of his 3-pointers in the first half as Fishburne Military (10-2) jumped out to a 23-15 lead.
Lord Botetourt (4-8) trailed 40-26 at halftime, outscored Fishburne Military 45-36 in the second half, but couldn't catch up. Gabe Sander led the Cavaliers with 20 points, Shannon Williams had 13 and Ryan Salvi 12.
For Fishburne Military, Jeremy Abbott added 14 points and Souvenier Callwood had 13. \
