OBIT WOOD, ANDREW JAMES

WOOD, Andrew James, 80, of Buena Vista, died January 23, 1993 at his home. He was born in Amherst County June 16, 1912, the son of the late B. Henry and Kate Brown Wood. He retired from James Lees and Sons and was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church, Buena Vista Fire Department, and the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 80th infantry division in the European Theater. Surviving are two sisters, Ruth W. Copper and Annie W. Thompson, both of Buena Vista; one brother, Aubrey Wood, Buena Vista; nieces and nephews, three special friends, Tom Dickinson, Paul Carlton and Linda Coffey, all of Buena Vista. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Lomax Funeral Chapel by Dr. Chip Pendleton. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
