PLEA BARGAIN PROMPTS CONCERNS
I AM CONCERNED over the outcome regarding Dr. William Gray (Jan. 15 story, "Gray forfeits license to escape sex case").I'm concerned as to whether the "improved reporting procedures" will be sufficient to stop this man from opening up another practice elsewhere.
I'm also concerned and disgusted that he was allowed to use his prestige and money to manipulate the system into dropping such serious charges, which may or may not have been true, while at the same time those lacking such means are sent to prison for less serious charges of the same nature. Does plea bargaining sometimes defeat its own purpose? PATRICIA D. DEEL CLOVERDALE
