OBIT NEELY, CHARLIE ("C.J.") JR.
NEELY, Charlie ("C.J.") Jr., 74, of 428 Wilson Street, Rocky Mount, died
Saturday, January 23, 1993 in Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was born April 3,
1918 the son of the late Charlie Neely Sr. and Ivey Neely, was a member of
Boilermaker Local 454 Chattanooga and served with the U.S. Army during World
War II. Surviving are his wife, Freddie Akins Neely of the home; three sons,
Ernest Neely of Dallas, Ga., Kenneth Neely of Exlander City, Ala., and Freddie
Jefferson of Sandy Level, Va.; four sisters, Margaret Dutton, Ella Ruth Ryan,
Ruby Richard, all of Lenoir City, Tenn., Rosell McConnell of Roswell, Ga.;
four brothers, Leroy Neely of Lenoir City, Tenn., Melvin Neely of Mt. Orab,
Ohio, Leon Neely of Weaver, Ala., Billy Neely of Seattle, Wash.; one half
brother, Tommy Collins of Little Rock, Ark. Also surviving are six
grandchildren to include, Kenneth Ray Neely; two great-grandchildren; and a
favorite niece, Jennifer Neely. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m.
Tuesday from the Lynch Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gene Ashworth with
interment to follow in the Franklin Memorial Park. Visitation may begin Monday
after 4 p.m. at Lynch Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from
7 to 9 p.m.
