OBIT RHEA, JOHN E.

RHEA, John E., 50, of 4630 Preston Forest Dr., Blacksburg, died Saturday, January 23, 1993, in Christiansburg. He was owner of the John Rhea Nationwide Insurance Agency in Blacksburg, and was a member of the Rockford Methodist Church in Radford. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Reserves, was a graduate of East Tennessee Statue University, and was a member of the Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson Owners Group. He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Rhea. Survivors include his wife, Joy Gregg Rhea, and a daughter, Ann Rhea, both of Blacksburg; and his mother, Ruth Rhea, Pennington Gap, Va. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 1993, in the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Pennington Gap, Va., with the Rev. Odell Lafon officiating. Burial will follow in the Cecil Cemetery in Pennington Gap, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Sturgill Funeral Home of Pennington Gap, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
