SE ROANOKE MAN STABBED IN DISPUTE
A Southeast Roanoke man was stabbed in the stomach while at a convenience store Sunday morning.Police found Walter E. Garland, 37, of Memphis Street Southeast, at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley after questioning a customer at the store where Garland was stabbed.
The customer reported to police that as he pumped gas at a store in the 2700 block of Colonial Avenue Southwest, he saw two men - one of whom was later identified as Garland - get out of a car and start arguing. The argument ended when the other man stabbed Garland.
The customer called police. The car left before police arrived.
Garland is in stable condition at Community Hospital.

Abdul S. Waleed, 57, of Hanover Avenue Northwest, has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that was set in a bedroom in a house.
A woman in the house said Waleed set fire to a chair during an argument with her. The woman extinguished the fire before anyone was harmed. A 4-year-old child was present.
