RAIDERS STILL PERFECT IN CONFERENCE
Marcus Cardwell scored 34 points as North Cross remained unbeaten in the Virginia Independent Conference, downing Roanoke Valley Christian 93-70 in boys' basketball Tuesday.Cardwell scored 14 in the fourth quarter as the Raiders stopped an Eagles' comeback attempt.
North Cross (14-4 overall, 7-0 VIC) broke to a 10-point first-quarter lead and Roanoke Valley Christian never could get closer than eight the rest of the way. North Cross benefited from a huge disparity at the free-throw line, where it made 30 of 45 compared with four of six for RVC (4-7, 3-5).
Montrice Smith added 14 points for the Raiders, while Mike Bryan and Aaron Marley contributed 10 apiece.
