SOUTHERN BAPTISTS TO DISCUSS FORMING GROUP
Southern Baptists interested in forming a conservative fellowship in Virginia will meet Thursday in Lynchburg.Several hundred pastors and laymen are expected for the meeting at Old Forest Road Baptist Church, said the Rev. Philip Day, including as many as 100 from the Roanoke Valley.
Day is a retired Vinton pastor serving as interim moderator of a new Roanoke Valley organization of conservative Southern Baptists.
Day said the new statewide organization probably will not split from the Baptist General Association of Virginia but is likely to limit its participation in the association.
Thursday's meeting begins at 10 a.m. The church is at 3630 Old Forest Road in Lynchburg.
