DUI DOUBLE STANDARD FOR PUBLIC OFFICIALS?
I'm responding to a recent article in the Roanoke Times & World-News, which concerned Rocky Mount's town manager, Mark Henne, and his alleged driving under the influence. He pleaded not guilty and was acquitted. The article stated that he passed "some" of his field tests. It didn't say all but "some." The article also made mention that he was over the legal limit of .10, meaning that he was legally drunk. Yet, he was acquitted.
Is this flexibility of the law going to be for everyone who drives under the influence of alcohol or just for our public officials? How am I supposed to have respect for the legal system and the brave officers who protect our streets if there is one set of rules for citizens and another for the public officials?
