RADFORD EX-PROFESSOR RUTH HACKMAN DIES

Dr. Ruth Hackman, Radford University professor emeritus and a former chairman of the school's home economics department, died Tuesday. She was 89.

Hackman, of Lynchburg, became head of the home economics education department at Radford College in 1961. The department was then a part of the Virginia Tech-Radford School of Home Economics.

A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg. Duiguid Rivermont Chapel in Lynchburg is handling the arrangements.
