JUDGE LETS CITADEL KEEP VETERANS PROGRAM SHUT
A federal judge refused Wednesday to order The Citadel to reopen its veterans program and allow two male vets to attend classes with the all-male corps of cadets.U.S. District Judge C. Weston Houck denied a request for a preliminary injunction. But he ordered a speedy trial in a lawsuit brought by the men who charge their civil rights were violated when the veterans program was abolished to keep out women.
The military school dropped the program last year after three female veterans sued to attend day classes with cadets.
