FIRST EVANGELICAL METHODIST CHURCH, 1920 Lucas St. in Salem, will sponsor Ray Holley, Christian singer, in concert Sunday at 6 p.m. The concert is free. A nursery will be staffed.\ ROANOKE VALLEY CATHEDRAL OF PRAISE is sponsoring an all-night prayer meeting Friday and Saturday beginning at 8 at the church at 1910 Williamson Road N.W.
National and personal concerns will be included. Child care will be provided.
\ NOON ORGAN CONCERTS are being presented each Wednesday in February from 12:05 to 12:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, McClanahan and South Jefferson streets. This is the 15th year for the free lunch-hour programs.
Next week's artists will be Robert Chapman and Deborah Kemper. Elaine Graybeal will perform on Feb. 10 and Thomas Baugh on Feb. 17. Both are organists.
The final program on Feb. 24 will feature organ duos by Chapman and Baugh.
\ EIGHT ROANOKE AREA EPISCOPAL PARISHES have undertaken human service ministries with the $75 each received a year ago during the annual meeting of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. The gift was to be multiplied, if possible, to make the church's concerns felt in the world.
The youth of St. John's of Roanoke helped a school in the Sudan, while Christ Church of Roanoke bought cooking supplies for its Habitat for Humanity house buyer. St. Elizabeth's gave its money toward starting a network support group for the unemployed and to start a SHARE food program.
St. James made monthly donations to help pay for lunches for transients and a bus for the emotionally disabled, and Holy Spirit bought and served food at the Salvation Army.
In Salem, most of St. Paul's donation went to the new Community Food Pantry for renovations and staples. In Buchanan, Trinity Church members beautified their community and an adult home with flowers and raised some food. In Fincastle, St. Mark's Church shared in an ecumenical Bible school.
\ CHURCH WEDDING MUSIC will be the theme of a free workshop Feb. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Colorado St. in Salem. The American Guild of Organists is sponsoring the workshop for prospective bridal parties of all denominations. It will include sample weddings with music appropriate for the church service.
\ ROANOKE AREA MINISTRIES, an ecumenical crisis agency supported by many religious and civic groups, will benefit from a valleywide food drive conducted by youth groups in several Grace Brethren congregations.
Teens will visit homes Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. to collect non-perishables and commercially canned food.
\ HEBREW CLASSES for adults and teens of any faith will begin Feb. 8 at Beth Israel Synagogue, 920 Franklin Road S.W.
Rabbi Jerome S. Fox will teach the classes that are the Alef or beginner level and will include the phonetic reading of the Hebrew alphabet. A fee of $15 covers materials and instruction.
The class will meet on Monday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 except on Feb. 22 and the Passover weeks of April 5 and 12. The last session will be May 17. Call 343-0289 for more information.
\ JOHN RICHARDSON and CHRISTOPHER WRIGHT, two British churchmen representing the Diocese of Bradford, are visiting Western Virginia Episcopal parishes through Tuesday.
The Diocese of Bradford and the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia have an international partnership. The two representatives will attend the annual business meeting of the Western Virginia diocese Friday through Sunday in Blacksburg.
Richardson is provost of Bradford Cathedral and is a guest of St. John's Church in Roanoke. Wright is a staff member of the Bradford diocese and is from the church at Skipton with which St. Paul's Church of Salem is linked.
