FOREST MANAGEMENT HEARING TONIGHT

The U.S. Forest Service will hold a public meeting tonight in Staunton on the George Washington National Forest's newly revised Land and Resource Management Plan.

Among the plan's highlights are restrictions on clear-cutting, plans for 15 new recreational facilities in the next 10 years and the set-aside of 70,000 acres to protect biological and historical sites.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Victorian Room of the Ingleside Red Carpet Inn. The motel is off I-81 at Exit 225.

Copies of the plan may be obtained at the George Washington headquarters office in Harrisonburg and at district ranger offices.
