BuffetsBuffets Inc., the Eden Prairie, Minn., company that owns Old Country Buffet restaurants, including one in Roanoke County, on Thursday reported record revenues and earnings. For the year ended Dec. 30, sales increased 26 percent to $247.5 million from $196.2 million in 1991 and net earnings increased 37 percent to $15.2, or $1.03 per share, from $11.1 million, or 76 cents per share.
Fourth-quarter sales were $58.6 million, up 23 percent from $47.7 million, and net earnings were $3.2 million, or 22 cents per share, up 20 percent from $2.7 million, or 18 cents per share.
Delta Air Lines
Delta Air Lines of Atlanta, part owner of Atlantic Southeast Airlines and Comair commuter carriers serving Roanoke Regional Airport, on Thursday reported a net loss of $126.3 million for its second quarter, compared to a net loss of $187.6 million a year earlier. Operating revenues were $2.875 billion, up 10 percent from the December 1991 quarter's $2.632 billion.
Rally's
Rally's Inc., a Louisville hamburger chain with operations in the Roanoke area, on Thursday reported net income of $9.3 million, or 76 cents per share, for its year ended Jan. 3, up 53 percent from net income of $6.1 million, or 54 cents per share, a year ago. Net income for the fourth quarter grew 47 percent to $2.8 million from $1.9 million for the 1991 period.
Operating income grew 46 percent to $15 million for the year, compared with $10.3 million. Operating income for the quarter grew 47 percent to $4.7 million from $3.2 million.
