OBIT JONES, GEORGE WALLACE
JONES, George Wallace, 84, of Bristol, Tenn., passed away Thursday, January
28, 1993 in Bristol Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born
July 19, 1908 in Greeneville, Tenn., the son of the late John Paul Jones and
Bess Arrowood Jones. He was retired from Holston Defense Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Pauley Jones of the home; six daughters,
Nancy Slusher, Hilda Bowers, and Judy Bolling, all of Bristol, Tenn., Bess
Jones Caudill of Bristol, Va., Louise Wyatt of Aiken, S.C., and Bobbie Lee
Pendergrass of Hillsville, Va.; one son, Alfred Gordon Dryden of Bristol,
Tenn.; two brothers, John Paul Jones Jr. of Bristol, Va., and Jimmy Jones of
Spokane, Wash.; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews. Graveside services for George Wallace Jones will be
conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Oscar Edwards
officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Bowers, Chris Bowers, Chad
Bowers, Todd Slusher, Randy Slusher and Ian McMurray. The family will receive
friends at Weaver Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Weaver Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.
