WIN OVER TROJANS MAKES LANCERS 14-0
Five players scored in double figures as undefeated Laurel Park raced past Tunstall 95-68 in a Piedmont District boys' basketball game Friday night.Lonzey Robertson led the Lancers' way with a 20-point performance. Ronnie Jackson added 19, Gerard Foster and Carlos Cooke had 14 apiece and Chauncey Strange chipped in 12 for Laurel Park (14-0 overall, 12-0 district).
For the Trojans (9-6, 7-5), Tarrace Carter scored 21 points and Quan Breedlove had 15. Khris Law added 12 and Hubert Adkins 10 for Tunstall, which shot 37 percent. \

MARTINSVILLE - Mike Martin scored 25 points and the Warriors held the Cavaliers to eight third-quarter points in a Piedmont District win.
Maurice Spencer scored 19 points for Martinsville (12-2, 10-2), and Vincent Eggleston added 17.
LaVelton Pope led all scorers with 28 points for the Cavaliers (5-9, 5-7), Ben Wright had 11 and Tim White added 10. \

GRETNA - Gretna hung tough for about five minutes in the first quarter, but the Warriors broke away with a 15-point run and routed the Hawks in a Piedmont District game.
Gretna (1-13, 1-11) trailed 14-12 before Magna Vista (9-4, 9-3) reeled off the next 15 points and finished the first half with a 31-5 run.
Tony Holmes led the Warriors with 18 points, followed by Kevin Foster with 13 and Evan Penn with 12.
William Merritt had three 3-points and 18 points for the Hawks. \
Fieldale-Collinsville 63

COLLINSVILLE - Lemuel Jones scored 14 points and Scott Chitwood added 11 as the Cavaliers rolled over the Bengals for a Piedmont District win.
Bassett led by one point at halftime, but Fieldale-Collinsville (10-4, 8-4) came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Bengals 13-8 to take the lead.
Artomus Wade, with 20 points, was the lone double-digit scorer for Bassett (3-11, 3-9). \

STUART - Chris Reynolds scored 21 points as the Cougars ran past the Wildcats for a Piedmont District win.
Patrick County (4-10, 2-10) led by one point at halftime then went up by 10 in the second half using a zone defense underneath the basket to hold Dan River to a few shots.
Brian Gunn led Dan River (4-11, 3-9) with 15 points. \

ABINGDON - Roger Lee sank a shot at the buzzer in double overtime to give the Scarlet Hurricane a Highlands District victory over the Falcons.
B Marion (7-8, 2-4) was down by six points at halftime but battled back in the second half and hit two 3-pointers in the last minute to send the game into overtime.
In the first overtime, each team made several turnovers and managed three points apiece. The Scarlet Hurricane scored first in the second overtime, and Abingdon (9-6, 4-2) tied the score, but Lee's shot gave Marion the win.
Brian Creggar led Marion with 24 points.
Travis Bales led Abingdon with 17 points. \

RURAL RETREAT - Tim Polk had seven of his game-high 20 points in overtime as the Warriors pulled away for a Hogoheegee District victory.
Chilhowie (9-5, 5-4) also got 16 points from John Olinger and 14 from Chris French.
Rural Retreat (2-10, 2-6) mounted a furious fourth-quarter rally to send the game into overtime. Stephen Pratt had 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Indians. \

GLADE SPRING - Aaron Black scored 20 points as the Maroons (8-7, 5-4) held on for the Hogoheegee District victory over the Rebels (5-8, 2-6).
George Wythe led most of the game but trailed by three points in the fourth quarter before rallying to take the lead for good in the final 1:38.
Chris Castle had a game-high 22 points for PH-Glade Spring.
Mike Cook had 15 and Andre Cook had 11 for George Wythe. \

RINER - All 12 Auburn players scored as the Eagles (9-5, 7-4) ripped the Shawnees (2-12, 1-10) in a Mountain Empire District game.
Terry Millirons led the way with 15, followed by Todd Collins, John Reed and Matt Davis with 13 apiece.
Darrell Bibb paced Shawsville with a game-high 24. \

MONTEREY - The Fighting Blues dashed to a 29-point halftime lead and earned an easy Pioneer District victory over the Rams.
Brian Sizemore had 16 points, Craig Floyd 14, Nathan Baker 13 and Chris Carter 10 for Parry McCluer (9-5, 4-3), which outscored Highland 26-7 in the second quarter.
Chris Schill scored 17 and Jamie Botkin 11 for Highland (2-10, 0-6).

COVINGTON - Brad Melton had 18 points and the Highlanders went ahead to stay in the final three minutes in notching a Pioneer District victory.
Covington (6-6, 4-2) led most of the way until Glenvar tied it 58-all on a pair of free throws by Melton with 2:52 left to play. The Highlanders (10-4, 6-0) took the lead with 1:58 left on a 3-point shot by Wes Jones, who finished with 13 points. Jason Anderson chipped in 11.
Keeno Jones led Covington with 21 points, Chuck Morris had 14 and Van Wallace added 12.
Glenvar shot better than 50 percent from the field. \

APPOMATTOX - Mike Moon scored eight of his 18 points in a pivotal fourth quarter as the Golden Eagles rallied past the Raiders in a Seminole District game.
Eric Flood scored 11 points and Mike Williams had three second-half 3-pointers and 11 points for Staunton River (7-7, 7-7), which trailed 35-28 at halftime.
Chris Dillon scored 14 and Tyrone Hancock 13 for Appomattox (7-8, 7-8).

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Forsyth Country Day romped to a 26-7 first-quarter lead and breezed to the non-district victory over the Chiefs (1-17).
Bryan Frieburger led a balanced Forsyth attack with 16 points.
Andrew Tunnell paced Carlisle with 17 points, including five 3-pointers.
