RAMPAGE FALTERS ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Roanoke Valley Rampage's East Coast Hockey League road losing streak just keeps going . . . and going . . . and going. On Friday night at the Richmond Coliseum, the Rampage came up a loser for the 21st consecutive time on the road, falling 7-4 to the Richmond Renegades.
Tonight, the Rampage (11-33-1 overall, 1-21-1 away from home) takes its ECHL-record streak to Johnstown, Pa., the site of its only road victory - 4-2 over the Chiefs.
Since that Halloween Night win, the Rampage has been spooked away from home.
Friday night, Roanoke Valley's horrors began when Richmond (22-20-1) struck for four goals in the second period to break open a close game.
The Renegades scored their final two goals of the period in a span of 47 seconds to send Rampage starting goalie Pete Fry to the bench. Fry stopped only eight of 13 shots in his 33 minutes of work.
Brendan Flynn led the Richmond attack with two goals. Five other Renegades chipped in one goal apiece. Former Roanoke Valley defenseman Frank Bialowas contributed two assists for the hosts.
Another former Roanoke Valley player, goalie Mike James, picked up the win, stopping 18 of 22 shots.
Jack Williams, Dean Dorchak, Vaclav Nedomansky and Chris Smith scored for Roanoke Valley. \
