BLACKSBURG STAR PICKS VMI
Kevin Schug, a place-kicker and two-time All-Timesland wide receiver for Blacksburg High School, has made an oral commitment to VMI.Schug, 6 feet 4 and 220 pounds, will play tight end for the Division I-AA school. He picked the Keydets over William and Mary.
"VMI probably has a pretty outstanding player that some other folks weren't willing to take a chance on," Blacksburg football coach David Crist said.
During his past two seasons, Schug caught 106 passes for 1,896 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was named to the New River District first team, The Associated Press All-Group AA team and the All-Region IV team in both years.
