FATHER AND DAUGHTER SHOT; WOMAN HELD

A family dispute that authorities say escalated out of control, resulted Saturday in the shootings of a Bedford County man and his daughter.

Sheriff Carl Wells said Edward Mosley, 46, was shot in the leg and his daughter Barbara, 24, in the head about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Mosley's wife and his daughter's stepmother - 36-year-old Evelyn Mosley - was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm.

Wells said a family argument "that apparently started this morning and kept going downhill," led to the shootings.

"Barbara Mosley, I think, got shot accidently," Wells said. "She was trying to get her daddy out of the way and out of the house."

Edward Mosley is under observation at Bedford County Memorial Hospital with a leg wound. Barbara Mosley, though she had been shot in the head, was treated and released.

Wells said a bullet from a .22-caliber handgun hit her skull, veered off and exited through her skin.

Evelyn Mosley is being held in the Bedford jail pending an arraignment on Monday.
