HIGHLANDERS LOSE 96-94 IN OVERTIME

Joey Hart hit two free throws with four seconds remaining in overtime Saturday night to give Coastal Carolina a 96-94 Big South college basketball victory over Radford.

Coastal Carolina (10-8 overall, 4-3 Big South) scored all seven of its overtime points at the free-throw line, hitting 7-of-8.

Radford (9-11, 3-4) scored the first basket in overtime and that was the only advantage the Highlanders had during the period.

Coastal Carolina led 88-84 with 1:55 remaining in regulation, but Radford then outscored the Chanticleers 5-1. The game went into overtime when Doug Day hit two free throws with one second left to even the score at 89.

Coastal Carolina's Mohammed Acha scored a career high 38 points, 27 in the second half, and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Tony Dunkin added 29 points and KeKe Hicks had 19.

Day led Radford with 30 points. The senior guard was 6-of-13 on 3-point goals. He became the all-time NCAA leader in 3-pointers attempted with 952 for his career. He has made 359 of those, four shy of the Division I record.
