N.M. COACH GETS WIN NO. 1,027
In Hobbs, N.M., with an 87-77 overtime victory over Alamogordo, the Hobbs Eagles made Ralph Tasker the top winning high school boys' coach in history.
Tasker, 73, has 1,027 victories against 252 defeats, one better than previous record holder Leslie Gaudet of Louisiana's Pine Prairie High School. Gaudet had 1,026 victories and 353 losses in a career that ended in 1970.
Tasker tied the record Jan. 22 with a 61-51 victory over Roswell.
