OBIT SKEENS, STANLEY PAUL

SKEENS, Stanley Paul, 75, of 181 Jordan Street, Dublin, died Friday, January 29, 1993 at his home. Born September 2, 1917 in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Samuel Jefferson Skeens and Mary Magaline Foglerman Skeens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Lucille Hughes Skeens. He was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church and a retired shift foreman from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, Va., with 35 years of service. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Virginia) Lowry, Richmond, Va., Mrs. Wayne (Clarice) Tolbert, Dublin; four sons, Sam Skeens, Pulaski, Richard Skeens, Wytheville, Tommy Skeens, High Point, N.C., Benny Skeens, Dublin; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Edith Florence Chester, Portage, Ind., Mrs. June Isaac, Vilas, N.C., Mrs. Mattie Gaynell Wimmer, Fairlawn, Va., Mrs. Grady (Margaret) Overbay, Salem, Va., Mrs. Jean Owen, Dublin; two brothers, Dale Skeens, Dublin, Harry Skeens, Chester, Va. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dublin Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. Visiting was Saturday after 5 p.m. and the family will received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski. Mr. Skeens will be placed in the church by 12 noon Sunday to lie in state until the hour of service. The family will be meeting at the home, 181 Jordan St., Dublin, where friends may call anytime. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is handling the arrangements.
