SHENANDOAH CONSERVATORY TO PERFORM
Shenandoah Conservatory will give a concert of "Love Songs and Spirituals" for Valentine's Day at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14 in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theatre.Performing will be the Shenandoah Conservatory Choir, director by Robert Shafer, with the Shenandoah Dance Ensemble. Faculty and guest soloists will also perform, including alumnus Michael Forest and guest artist Marie Robinson.
In addition to works by Britten, Schumann, and selections from "Porgy and Bess," the concert will feature a composition of the "Star Spangled Banner" by W. Edwards Deming.
Deming is renowned as a management consultant on quality and the recipient of America's National Medal of Technology. His management theories are being implemented at Shenandoah University.
The concert will also include the awarding of the Conservatory Medal to Todd Duncan, the Washington singer and vocal coach who earned fame as "Porgy" in the first production of "Porgy and Bess."
