OBIT DOD, JOHN BYARD

DOD, John Byard, 88, of Lexington, Va., died Tuesday, February 2, 1993 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dod was born August 6, 1904 in Rockbridge County, Va., a son of the late William Thomas Dod and Lillie Bell Trivey Dod. He was a retired masonry contractor and farmer, a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Blue Lodge #186 in Buena Vista, the Kazim Temple of Roanoke and the Moomaw Commandry #67. He was also a charter member of the Outer Banks Surf Fishing Club. Surviving are his wife, Annie B. Dod; two sons, Steve Bare Dod, Staunton, William Rader Dod, Lexington; one daughter, Laura Lillie Dod, Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Dod Henlock, Silverspring, Md., Mrs. Lillie Dod Daily, Washington, D.C., Mrs. Primrose Dod Singleton, Silverspring, Md.; one brother, Charles William Dod, Roanoke; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 1993 at the graveside in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with Dr. L. Randolph Harrison officiating. The family wishes memorial donations to be made to the Shriners Cripple Children Hospital, care of Mountain City Lodge #67, P.O. Box 748, Lexington, Va. 24450. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
