OBIT CONNER, W. RAYMOND
CONNER, W. Raymond, 79, of Salem, formerly of Oaklawn Ave., NW, died
Tuesday, February 2, 1993. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church
in America where he was a former trustee and Elder Emeritus. He was a retired
owner of Bestway Grocery in Old Southwest Roanoke and was a former volunteer
with the Roanoke City Social Services Food Program. Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Kathryn C. Conner, Salem; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Ruby Conner,
Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Roy Hayth, Jr., Roanoke;
grandchildren, Curtis Conner, Strasburg, Va., Wendy Conner, Chris Hayth, Eric
Hayth, Alicia Hayth, all of Roanoke; brother, Claude Conner, Mechanicsville,
Va.; two sisters, Ann Johnson, Franklin, Va. and Thelma Hotchkiss, Broadway,
Va. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, by the Rev. Lonnie W. Barnes. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial
Park. The family suggest memorials be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church
in America, 2216 Peters Creek Rd., N.W., Roanoke, Va. 24017. Friends may call
at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
