PHILIP MORRIS TO OFFER RETIREMENT TO 545

RICHMOND - Philip Morris USA will cut 545 union workers from its Richmond operations by offering them an early retirement package.

About 1,200 tobacco workers represented by Local 203-T of the Bakery, Confectionery and Tobacco Workers International Union will be eligible for the program through Feb. 19, the New York-based company said.

The package is being offered only to hourly, non-seasonal production employees who, as of March 1, are at least 50 years old and have a minimum of five years of service.
