OBIT DALTON, JANIE PHILLIPS

DALTON, Janie Phillips, 80, of 116 W. Northside Dr., Gretna, died Tuesday evening, February 2, 1993 at the Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg. She was born in Mecklenburg County August 31, 1912. She was a retired employee from Dan River Mills. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Phillips and Martha Edwards Phillips. She was married to the late Percy C. Dalton. She is survived by one son, Curtis W. Grubbs of Norfolk; four daughters, Betty Wilkes of Hurt, Barbara G. Lipscomb and Dorothy G. Reese, both of Vinton, Josephine G. Guesnard of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Delia P. Grubbs of Galax; twelve grandchildren and fifteen grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Colbert-Moran Chapel by the President Wayne Wheeler of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
