CRAIG BOARD PROMOTES ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Brian A. Green, assistant principal for less than a year, has been named principal of Craig County High School. He succeeds William T. Gerrol, who became assistant principal at Salem High School in December. After the county School Board appointed him Tuesday night, Green said he is excited about leading the high school. He said the school has "one of the best staffs I've ever seen."
Green, 31, came to Craig County in the fall after teaching high school English in Knoxville, Tenn. He has an undergraduate degree in broadcasting and a master's degree in English from the University of Tennessee. He is working toward a doctorate in educational administration at Virginia Tech.
The School Board had not advertised the principal's position, and Green, who has been serving in that capacity since December, was the only candidate considered.
The board has not named an assistant principal to replace Green, who also worked part time as assistant principal at McCleary Elementary School.
