ETS LICENSES ANOTHER DEALER IN TAIWAN
ETS International Inc. of Roanoke said Thursday it has licensed U-Tah Industrial Co. Ltd. to sell its Limestone Emission Control System in Taiwan. U-Tah will pay ETS an initial license fee and a 5 percent royalty on each system it sells. It is the second such agreement ETS has signed in recent weeks with Asian companies. ETS said last month it had licensed another Taiwanese firm, Gibbson Engineering Co., to sell a patented dry reactor for incineration of hospital and industrial wastes.
The Limestone Emission Control System addresses acid rain by controlling sulfur dioxide emission from power plants and industry.
John Mycock, executive vice president of ETS, said Taiwan's desulfurization market is expected to reach $2.8 billion by 1997. In 1991, U-Tah held 32 percent of the industrial air pollution control market in Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand and the People's Republic of China.
Mycock said the market is expected to increase at an annual rate of 25 percent through 1997 because of an aggressive control program enacted by the Taiwan government.
