BASKETBALL-GLENVAR ROMPS PAST JAMES RIVER

At Buchanan, Glenvar took command in the second quarter and pulled away for a 73-47 victory over host James River in a Pioneer District boys' game Thursday night. Brad Melton's 21 points led the Highlanders and Matt Woolwine added 16. For the Knights (5-11 overall, 4-4 district), Troy Thompson had 13 points.

Mike Bryan and Aaron Marley each scored 15 points to lead the North Cross Raiders (17-5, 10-1) past visiting Timberlake Christian 82-44 in a Virginia Independent Conference game.

The Lynchburg Christian Bulldogs (14-1, 9-0) romped past visiting North Cross 52-23 in a Virginia Independent Conference girls' game. Emily Cook led North Cross (3-12, 0-9) with 18.
