ROANOKE SUSPECT LINKED TO N.Y. KILLING
A man being held in the Roanoke jail on drug charges is being sought in connection with a Syracuse, N.Y., slaying.Shawn Perkins, 24, has been held in the Roanoke City Jail since September after being arrested on Gilmer Avenue and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, said Lt. Steve Lugar, head of the Roanoke Police Department vice bureau.
The Post-Standard, a Syracuse newspaper, quoted authorities there as saying that a warrant charging Perkins with the June 1992 slaying of 19-year-old Michael Flagg was filed in Roanoke on Thursday. Police there found Perkins through a national police computer search.
